Yes, we are pretty much in the middle of nowhere but there are always ways to get where you want to be. It seems that ways to visit us change every month so it is easiest to contact us and we can work with you to find out what will work best. These are current options:
From Siem Reap (approx. 3.5h+ hours travel time):
Private Taxi or Van: This is the easiest and most efficient way to get to us. The trip is about 3.5 hours and price is about $110/$130 one way. This trip can also include a stop at the Preah Khan Kompong Svay temple nearby if you like (same cost if you don’t stay too long).
Bus+ Public Van+ Motorbike Taxi: This is a little bit complicated but doable if one doesn’t mind roughing it a bit. We can help arrange the bits and pieces.
From Phnom Penh
Private Taxi or Van: Again, the easiest. Approximately $140/$170 for a 6-7 hour trip one way. For an extra cost, you can squeeze in a trip to the Preah Khan Kompong Svay temple nearby or to Sambour Prei Kup.
Public Bus + Motorbike Taxi: There are a number of bus companies that travel Phnom Penh to Preah Vihear at various times of day for about $7 a seat. It is important to tell the driver that you are getting off at Svay Pat (Kilometer #89 on the milage posts on the left side of the road after Kompong Thom). From Svay Pat, we will arrange onward travel for you, either a motorbike taxi (about a two hour ride on the back of a 125cc scooter, $15 each motorbike currently) or a local car (which is usually about $50-60) and they should be able to bring you right to our door.
Please contact us for more details and arrangements for any of these options and other needs you might have.
Drive yourself/Car/Bicycle/Dirt Bikes/Scooters: We’ve seen intrepid independent travellers all over Cambodia – we are certainly a place you can stop by if you are driving yourself across Cambodia. Look at the google maps routes above and let us know if you want anything even more off-road.
The wet season will be different with a few challenges that make life interesting when visiting us. For most of the wet season we are still accessible, however after a heavy rains there can be complications. We have methods usually involving motorbikes and possibly some walking but this all makes life fun. Just don’t plan your exit on the day you are flying out of Cambodia.
Using the KML File:
BeTreed Access kml file (same as above) has all the various routes into BeTreed.
Because you need to be online to be able to use the map, and because internet reception gets spotty the further out you are, it is important that you get an offline version to follow in. Here is how you can do this:
1. Download the files as a kml file onto your phone.
2. Install maps.me app on your phone
3. Go to the file in “MY FILES” on your phone and click to open in the maps.me app. Map.me should open with the map to us marked. At least in theory. Good Luck!
